I would like to offer my self to you. Shine your wisdom thru me.
All I ask in return is to be fully conscious and aware of it.
Let me witness all the love and joy that manifest.
Yesterday we spoke about one of the classic enlightenment mysteries. Is the Human Mind the Biggest Obstacle to Enlightenment?
Now, if we want to have an intellectual discussion about it, there’s plenty of “evidence” to dig into. Endless factors we can gather, review, and analyze. Just like the mind loves. in fact, this search has and can keep occupying mankind for many more centuries. For decades, the finest human minds have tried to uncover this mystery. So, have we found a definite answer yet?
A spiritual hack to freedom
There may be, however, an alternative approach. If I want to sound fancy, I can say a “shortcut”. A spiritual hack, if you will. No, there’s no answer here because there is also no question. The truth is, there are are no obstacles for enlightenment. There’s only the idea that there can be any. Remove the idea, you remove the obstacle. Then, when the smoke screen clears, there’s only one universal infinite love that we all have. That we all share. That we all are.
The “Monkey lesson”
I often realize how comical this spiritual quest is. We spend so much effort trying to figure this out. Such a serious search we conduct. All this time, all this effort, where there was nothing to find at all. Like a monkey staring into his reflection in the river. “Who is this other monkey? Is he a friend or foe? What is he doing here? Is he going to eat my food? Take my mate from me?” As the monkey constantly and carefully observes the “other monkey”, something happened. He finally gets it and starts to laugh hysterically. All of sudden, he realizes the truth. “This is not another monkey. This is me!”
What if…
Now, back to the quote (or poem) I started the post with. Last night after the evening feast, I read yesterday’s post. Perhaps it was the dopamine rush from all this delicious food, or just me being me. Who knows. Anyways, as I was doing so, a realization came to me. In less than a second, my mind revisited a few instances where I did or said something. Nothing fancy. Very simple, no effort. Nothing special, really. No preparation or thinking. It just happened.
Turns out, these seemingly insignificant things made quite an impact. Such, that stood above the norm. How do I know that? My actions affected other people in an unusual way. They noticed and mentioned that, and expressed gratitude. Now, to the other part of this realization. What was so different about these actions? If you look at them literally, then nothing special. I gave an advice to someone, and I wrote something to someone. Have we stumbled upon another one of these “random” mysteries?
But then, there is one thing that was different. I didn’t think. I didn’t try to gain anything, to look better, to sound smarter. Or, even to make the other person happy. I wasn’t even trying to help with my advice. The ego-mind was on strike. Or, took a nap. There was non personal opinion here on my end. Or, very little. I simply, was present at the moment and things just happened “thru” me.
“Well”, my mind wondered. “If this is true, is it possible to live like this all the time? That has to be effective and pleasant. That has to be fun.”
Shine your wisdom thru me
If you like sarcasm, you may enjoy the following thought that comes to me as I write this. “Oh well, at least it wasn’t a mind attack.” 🙂 Clearly, my mind is in peace with this content. In a way, the loving energy from these wonderful experiences is still here, powering me. Anyways, back to last night. Right after this “mind” question, before I had a chance to even think further, the quote came.
I would like to offer my self to you. Shine your wisdom thru me.
All I ask in return is to be fully conscious and aware of it.
Let me witness all the love and joy that manifest.
Do you think I need to explain it further? For some reason, I find it hard. Almost, as it is written the way it is supposed to. And, it doesn’t even matter who is the you or myself in this quote. That’s a different topic. The empowering piece here, is that there’s this possibility, that we can be present, be at that state where consciousness simply “flows thru us”. Not just during meditation or after a delicious meal. I mean constantly on an ongoing basis. We all connect to this higher intelligence and live according to it. It is when the mind follows, not leads.
When the mind follows, not leads
Is this the future of mankind? Or perhaps, this has already happened? How funny considering that we are talking about us being in the present moment as the essential factor for any of this to happen. One thing is for sure. The next time we see our reflection in the mirror worrying about something about the “other me”, let’s try to remember the “monkey lesson”.
Merry Christmas and happy new year. Aloha and love.
