World Egoless Awareness Day

World Egoless Awareness Day

How is everyone doing today?

Perhaps we all take this day and give ourselves the gift of awareness. A reminder of our true selves, if you will. A look into who we truly are. In this World Egoless Awareness Day, we look within. We accept and love all our thoughts, emotions, feeling, and sensations. In this day, we acknowledge this incredible gift that each one of us have: the ability to live, to think, to feel. Effortlessly. Regardless of what thoughts of feelings we may experience at the moment. Unconditionally love and accept them all. Just like the love of a mother to a newborn. Pure love.

And then…what?

As we place our attention inward, we also become alert to what goes out. What type of energy are we radiating back to the world? Before we take an action, there’s always a thought. And when we think about that action, there’s always the energy that comes with it. This all happens in a fraction of a second before any action was even made.

Now, a common wisdom or saying teaches us that “its not what you say, but how you say it”.
Or, we can say that more important than what you do, is how you do it. Is it coming from a loving place? Are you fully present in the moment? Or, what you do is just a mean to an end?

So, now is a great time to ask yourself. What’s your energy right now? Take a deeper look within, and listen. Remember, the energy you sense right now in you, is what you are also emitting out. Are we sending a good vibe to the universe, or are we stuck in a survival mode?

Maybe tomorrow. I don’t have time for this. Right now I am busy.

Being busy in our modern world is so common, you have to wonder, does it ever end? Sure, tomorrow, or maybe after we achieve this and that egoic goals. 🙂 Here’s the truth about our busy mind. When you witness a thought that has this “right now” kind of energy attached to it, you may want to question its urgency. Are we losing ourselves in stress or egoic desires? Is it all in our mind, or is there some truth to it?

By the time you are aware of the thought, it has already passed. Now, is it still relevant? Time to take a deep breath. Now, ask again: is the topic of the thought demands your entire attention “right now”? If so, by all means, leave everything and put your entire attention into it. Get things done. But, what if, the “right now” that came with the thought, is just another mind pattern? Then, you may notice these types of thoughts repeatedly come to your awareness all day long. Your mind is stuck in a loop. Time to break this vicious cycle. Time to relieve the system.

Striping down thoughts to their core

What I am saying here is actually a very simple, practical practice. And, it doesn’t require much time. Yet, it can help you discover some profound life-changing discoveries. Clean up that pile of dirt to reveal these hidden treasures. Insights about yourself, insights about others. And, both. In other words, the way you interact with others.

It starts with a thought as it comes. Becoming alert is essential, because you want to capture this thought before another thought already follows. Now, it is the perfect time to look within.

When you observe that thought, can you see:
  • The topic. You may call it the main theme of the thought.
  • The ego. I, me, mine…And very often then not, there’s the “others”: you, they, he or she.
  • The time factor. Is it related to the past? If so, this may be driven by a memory. Or, is it a future type of thought? It can be a concern, worry, or a desire. In any case, future thoughts mean imagination. The mind is trying to predict a future outcome based on past experiences. Or, there’s a concept you find attractive that you would like to achieve.
  • Emotions & feelings. Last, but not least, is there any sensation you can feel in your body? It can be very strong such as anxiety, depression or excitement. But, it can also be subtle, like indifference, or “feeling blah”?

Now, once we strip down a thought to its individual components, what truly remains? Is it a thought about food, coffee, sex or other needs that may not even relevant anymore?  Or maybe your mind is still trying to figure out why your neighbor didn’t say “good morning” back to you a week ago. Is she mad, or maybe she just didn’t see me? Is it something I said?

Time to face your naked truth

The truth is that once you peel away the last layer of the onion, you may realize there is nothing left. As you start and peel away the layers, you may discover beliefs and attachments you still have some interest in, but since in this practice we accept everything that comes, unconditionally, many of these seem to just dissolve. All of a sudden, these “urgent” thoughts don’t look so important, scary, intimidating or appealing. Not to mention, urgent. Everything feels light and loving. I remember how many time I started to laugh after it was very clear I got stuck in the heaviness loop of the mind again.

So, how do you feel right now?

Time to take another deep breath. You just got a reminder of the real you. And all it took was one thought. Please accept this gift you have just given to yourself. Love yourself enough to do it. Love yourself enough to keep doing it.

Also, thank you for being here. Thank you for giving me the space to share. I feel nothing but love and gratitude now.
Until our next talk, aloha and love.
